Health Savings Account (HSA)

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is an account with major tax advantages that you can use to help pay for health care expenses. If you enroll in a Bronze, Bronze Plus, or Silver medical plan—these are high deductible health plans (HDHPs)—you may be eligible to contribute to an HSA. If you enroll in a Bronze or Bronze Plus plan, Primo Brands will also contribute to your HSA.

You can enroll in an HSA as a new hire or during Annual Enrollment.

The Basics

How It Works

You don’t pay federal taxes on your contributions to your HSA, earnings or withdrawals (as long as the expenses are eligible).

Your unused HSA dollars roll over from year to year.

All contributions are always yours to keep even if you change medical plans or leave the company.

You can spend your HSA today or save it for the future!

What's Covered

HSA dollars can be used for qualified medical, dental and vision expenses for yourself, your spouse and your tax dependents.

  • Doctor bills
  • Prescriptions
  • Orthodontia
  • Physical therapy
  • Glasses and contacts
  • Fertility care
  • See the full list allowed by the IRS

Once you reach age 65, you can use your HSA for other expenses too. Your withdrawals will be taxed but there is no extra tax penalty.

How It Pays

Use your HSA debit card to pay for health care expenses directly.

Your unused funds can earn interest—once your account exceeds $2,000, you can move any balance above that amount into mutual funds and direct your investment strategy. You pay any fees associated with directed investments.

You cannot contribute to an HSA (and Primo Brands cannot contribute to your HSA) if you’re covered by other insurance, including Medicare, or if you are a dependent on anyone else’s tax return. Learn more when you enroll or by reading the IRS rules for HSAs. If you are not eligible for an HSA, you can contribute to a Health Care FSA which can also help money by paying your health care expenses with pre-tax dollars.

Contributions from You and Primo Brands

When you enroll, you can choose the amount you want to contribute to your HSA for the year. That amount is deducted from your paycheck before taxes.

If you enroll in a Bronze or Bronze Plus plan, Primo Brands will contribute money to your HSA too (spread out over quarterly deposits). You don’t have to contribute your own money to get the Primo Brands contribution.
